The first ever enterprise survey of companies located in The Digital Hub will be launched at an event in the Digital Depot, Roe Lane (off Thomas Street), The Digital Hub, Dublin 8 on Monday, 30th June 2008 at 10am.
The survey findings will demonstrate the benefits for companies of locating in The Digital Hub, and will also give clear indicators of the health of Ireland’s digital media sector overall (one in six digital media companies currently operating in Ireland is located in The Digital Hub).
The enterprise survey findings will show that companies located in The Digital Hub have significantly higher levels of skills, job security and growth than the average company operating in Ireland. The survey will also demonstrate the relative ‘youth’ of digital media companies compared to other sectors of the Irish economy, and will illustrate the challenges faced by the digital media sector in Ireland.
Philip Flynn, Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Hub Development Agency, said the enterprise survey was an important tool for the digital media sector in Ireland.
"The last report used as a reference for the Irish digital media sector was produced by PwC in 2002," he said. "This new survey paints an up-to-date, current picture of digital media companies in Ireland. It gives an in-depth understanding of the Digital Hub’s enterprise cluster. But because over one-sixth of Ireland’s digital media companies are now located in The Digital Hub, the survey findings can also be considered indicative of the health of the sector overall."
The survey will be launched by the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan TD. Representatives of two Digital Hub companies – Colm Saunders, Finance Director of Zamano, and Pádraig Mannion from Studio Rua – will also make inputs at the event, and will discuss how the survey findings are reflective of their own experiences.
