Global car hire distribution company CarTrawler, has produced its first “Biannual Growth Trends Index” and the report reveals some startling statistics regarding overseas car rental and city break rentals.
Despite worldwide spiralling fuel increases, CarTrawler exceeded all expectations by experiencing increased growth in the first six months of 2008, especially in the United States, Romania and Bulgaria. The figures show that there was also a steady increase in city break car hire bookings.
Commenting on the upward trend CarTrawler CEO Greg Turley said:
“The expansion in international airport and business destinations is not surprising for us, we are convinced that this area will go on to experience drastic growth also in the next year as more and more carriers capitalise on vehicle hire ancillary revenue.”
“We are experiencing a growth in vehicle hire on city breaks as well, instead of depending on local transportation. With the convenience of car rental booking via online suppliers and the option to compare the offered hire rates and get good value, a growing number of travellers are opting for the comfort of using a private rental auto no matter how short their break is. They prefer the independence of their own transport and they appreciate the personal space that a hire car offers them.”
CarTrawler supplies booking engine technology to a range of airlines and travel sites worldwide. The Argus brand of car hire is one of the company’s biggest clients.
