Patrick Collister is coming to do a one day workshop with copywriters in Dublin on Friday, November 19th. Lizzie Kinross, a senior copywriter at ICAN, is the one who has invited him over.
Lizzie says, ‘I’ve been a copywriter in Dublin for 8 years, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen any training advertised particularly for copywriters. I mean, I know most of us our pure geniuses, but a little creative boost might be nice!’
She continues, ‘I saw Patrick Collister once before, doing a creative workshop for An Post. It was a very inspiring, creatively invigorating day, and I decided to see if he would like to tailor a session particularly for us copywriters’. This is the result.
Righter Writing is happening on Friday 19th November at the Guinness Storehouse.
Patrick Collister runs a training agency called Creative Matters that works with some of the biggest agencies in the UK to help them improve their creative output. He is a serious advertising head, with 7 years behind him as Executive Creative Director at Ogilvy and Mather, and a Gold at Cannes.
While Patrick is very much the main speaker for the day, Lizzie will also be giving a short session on writing for social media; a rapidly growing area for all copywriters and her particular field of expertise.
Lizzie has invited Dublin Simon Community to provide a live brief for the workshop. ‘With that much talent in one room’ Lizzie says, ‘it’s a great opportunity for a charity to get some ideas about the kind of cool campaigns they could be running. However, the workshop is certainly not about solving their brief. It’s all about giving writers the chance to improve their techniques and refresh their creative processes.’
