Internet Industry Called to Nominate their Peers for IIA & Invest Northern Ireland Net Visionary Awards 2003
The Irish Internet Association (IIA) is today calling on the Internet
Industry to nominate their peers for the IIA & Invest NI Net Visionary
Awards, which takes place on the 26th November in the Clontarf Castle Hotel,
Dublin. Over the last five years the awards have become the most respected
Internet awards, honouring individuals for their contribution to the Irish
Internet Industry. Nominated by colleagues, clients, and peers, short
listed by IIA member companies and judged by the IIA board of directors,
these awards are truly the most prestigious awards on the Industry calendar.
This year the IIA are delighted to welcome Invest NI, the body responsible
for economic development in Northern Ireland, as the headline sponsor for
the awards, which for the first time will be run as a Black-tie evening
All members of the Internet Community are invited to nominate individuals
for the awards online at www.netvisionary.ie. Nominations are invited from
the Internet Community as well as IIA member companies and there is no cost
of entry. Nominations close on Wednesday 24th October. On the 28th October
representatives from IIA Member Companies will vote to create a shortlist.
The board of the IIA will select the overall Net Visionary of the year and
announce individual category winners at a black tie awards ceremony in
Clontarf Castle on the 26th of November 2003. The winner of the overall Net
Visionary Award will be chosen by the IIA Board from all nominations
Speaking at the launch of the event IIA Chief Executive Officer, Irene Gahan
comments “This year’s change in format and extension of the awards reflect
the optimism in the sector as many IIA members are reporting a strong upturn
in revenues, particularly SME’s. The Net Visionary awards are unique in that
they honour individual contribution to the industry and this year we are
expecting a record number of nominations. The profile of the sponsors
reflects the significance of the awards to the Internet community. The IIA
are delighted that Invest NI have come on board as headline sponsors for
Trevor Killen, Director, Ireland of Invest NI commented in Dublin, “We are
delighted to sponsor this prestigious event which further develops our
excellent relationships with the ICT community. More and more Irish
companies in this area are interested in the benefits of investing in
Northern Ireland, and this gives us the opportunity to build greater
awareness of our role.”
This year a number of additional awards have been added expanding the awards
from five to twelve, honouring individuals in areas such as design,
development, marketing, social contribution and mobile communications.
