On 24th July, 1,542 domains were deleted from the IE Domain Registry (IEDR) registration system and are now available for registration on a first come first served basis. This is the first time the Registry has undertaken a mass deletion of domain names. This deletion process will now take place monthly. These 1,542 domains represented a combination of voluntary deletions and deletions for non-payment.
In further news the IEDR has reached agreement with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) on the operation of a Dispute Resolution Policy (IEDRP) for the .ie domain name. The documents which provide a complete explanation of the IEDRP, and highlight the changes to the IEDR`s policies are: IEDRP Dispute Resolution Policy with Explanatory Note www.domainregistry.ie/dispute-res; Changes to the IEDR`s Naming and Registration Policy www.domainregistry.ie/custom30; Changes to the IEDR`s Registrations Policy www.domainregistry.ie/custom11
